Thehistorical tourist informed us that the maincollege building was, in the early part ofthis century, the mansion house of Ringold, who owned a manorof 20,000 of these beautiful acres thatspread out around. GRIMES STATION. Amid quiet fields where grasses andflowers cover the red tracks of con-tending hosts, this little station standsthe vidette of the great battle fields alongthe valley road. [6 VIRGINIA, TENNESSEE AND. BUR^SIDES BRIDGE, ANTIETAM. ANTIETAM is not far away, and Stonewalls menleft souvenirs of their presence here, inthe bullet marks on trees and fences. The bridge which Burnside crossed isanother reminder of the past, and theSoldiers Monument speaks adoration ofthose who fell upon the way. SHARPSBURG. Every acre about this place is battleground.
