The foundry has six monitors runningacross at risht aneles to the length of 50 ft., and a centre 60 ft. bay. Eachof the side bays is served by a 10-tonCleveland crane and the main bay by a25-ton crane of the same make. The60 ft. bay .will be further equipped inthe near future with a second will be of 30 tons capacity with anauxiliary 5-ton hoist. The south 50-ft. bay is occupied bythe sand grinding pans, the dryingovens, two open-hearth furnaces andthe Stock converter. The 60 ft. bay. Thewhole of the steel work was manufactur-ed and erected by the Hamilton BridgeWorks Company. The stock yard for storage of pigiron, steel scrap, coke, etc., runs parallelwith the south wall of the foundry andis served by a 10-ton Northern cranefitted with a lifting magnet. The cranerunway is 380 ft. long by 60 ft. its west end are the sand bins. Thesand-handling, storage and grinding fa-cilities have been carefully designedwith a view to the maximum of efficiencyand economy The sand is received onthe track at the east end of the plantand is unloaded from the cars into buck-ets. These are carried by the stock yardtraveler to the sand storage bins andthere dumped through openings in theroof. The sand storage building is ofconcrete, 65x40 ft., and runs at r
