Many of the fields checked at Virden, Hidalgo County, had heavy populations of winged forms. Ratio was about 30 winged to one wingless form. (N. M. Coop. Rpt.). OKLAHOMA - Isolated alfalfa plants along roadside infested in Grant County; checks in Kay, Noble and Logan Counties, north central area, negative. Activity continues in southwest and south central areas. (Okla. Coop„ Sur,). KANSAS - Foxmd in alfalfa and along roadsides in Sumner County (south central) and along roadsides only in Comanche County (s. c.) and Meade County (southwest). Counts in fields averaged 600 per 100 sweeps and roadside counts ranged 50-3,500 per 100 sweeps. Fifteen percent winged adults, 35 percent wingless adults and 50 percent nymphs. If warm, dry weather continues, species could become a problem in next few weeks. (Peters). TARNISHED PLANT BUG (Lygus lineolaris) - PENNSYLVANIA - Very common in alfalfa in southeast. (Menusan). MARYLAND - Adults active in alfalfa and red clover in Dorchester, Prince Georges and Talbot Counties. (U. Md., Ent. Dept.). DELAWARE - Adults active in alfalfa in Kent and Sussex Counties; averaged 2 per 10 sweeps. (Burbutis). NEBRASKA - Adults per 10 sweeps averaged 2 in southeast and 4 in central area on alfalfa. (Bergman). LYGUS BUGS (Lygus spp.) - ARIZONA - Increasing in alfalfa statewide; counts 50-100 adults and nymphs per 100 sweeps. Increased activity also noted in central area safflower. (Ariz. Coop, Sur.). NEW MEXICO - Appearing in small grain and alfalfa field
