Montgó looks down on his land. Mount Montgo from South of Javea
Situated between Javea and Denia on the Costa Blanca, Spain, Montgó rises to 753m. It was believed to have mystical powers, owing to the fact that from some angles it has the appearance of a dormant elephant, as can be seen clearly here. Note Montgo's eye and trunk on the right. Clothed in lush vegetation, it is protected as a Parc Natural by the Spanish authorities, making it a wildlife preserve.
