Japanese warlord Minamoto no Yoritomo, 1845. The leader of the Minamoto clan, Minamoto no Yoritomo (1147-1199) defeated the rival Taira clan in the Genpei War (1180-1185) and established the first Samurai shogunate in Japan, which he ruled from 1192 until his death.
