Marco Polo's Book in German


Following his travels and work for the Mongolian ruler Khublai Khan in Mongolia and China, the Venetian Marco Polo (1254-1324) dictated an account of his experiences, a book known now as "The Travels of Marco Polo." This illustration shows the title page of the first German translation of his book, published in Nurnberg in 1477.
