Blea Tarn in Cumbria
Blea Tarn is one of the easiest to visit, with a convenient car park on the Little Langdale to Great Langdale road. It has a backdrop of the Langdale Pikes, being at the very heart of wild Lakeland. Rhododendrons on the rocky west shore add to the charm. The sediment in the bed of Blea Tarn has not been disturbed since the last Ice Age. It is now designated as Site of Special Scientific Interest. There are brown trout, perch and pike in the tarn.
