Nelson’s Ship in a Bottle on the 4th plinth in London's Trafalgar Square, with Nelson on his column in the background

Nelson's Ship in a Bottle was designed by Yinka Shonibare for display on Trafalgar Square's 4th plinth. Other than the hand-stitched sails, which are made using the artists' trademark African textiles, the sculpture is a perfect replica of HMS Victory inside a giant bottle. Nelson's flagship is fully rigged with 31 sails set as they were on the day of the Battle of Trafalgar, the oak, hardwood and brass model is minutely detailed, right down to 80 tiny cannon and miniature lifeboats.
