Kidney tubule. Coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of a section through tissue from a kidney tubule. The tubule of a kidney is the part of the kidney that carries away the filtered fluid (filtrate) from each of the kidney's filtering structures (the glomeruli). Some reabsorption takes place, before the filtrate is passed to the bladder as urine. Magnification: x3800 when printed at 10 centimetres across.
