The improvement of the Merino has beenachieved without trenching upon the provinceof the motton breeds. Ample room for eachwas found, and the capital and enterprisenecessary to their fullest development wasnot wanting. The jealousies of narrow mindshave been brushed aside by those men whohave comprehended the fact that the highestexcellences of one breed of sheep were not tobe reaohed by detracting from merits of an-other breed.
