False-colour Landsat image of San Francisco, California, with the Pacific Ocean at left and the San Francisco Bay at right. Two bridges are visible; the Golden Gate Bridge (bridging the entrance to the bay at upper left) and the Bay Bridge (upper right) which links San Francisco and Oakland. The runways of San Francisco airport project out into the bay just below the centre of the image. To the south of the city are the Montara Mountains. The two finger-shaped lakes running along the edge of the mountain range mark the path of the infamous San Andreas Fault.
