Views of the Lord of Annaland's seat called Clingendael, General and particular views of the Lord of Annaland's seat called Clingendael close to The H

Views of the Lord of Annaland's seat called Clingendael, General and particular views of the Lord of Annaland's seat called Clingendael close to The Hague (ca. 1700). The title at the top pays extravagant allegorical tribute to Philips and Susannah. Between their coats of arms are depicted Architectura, with a plan, Apollo, the Sun god, a water nymph, Diana, the goddess of hunting with her bow and hunting dog, Flora, with her basket of flowers and Abundance with her cornucopia of plenty. The plan beneath shows how the long and relatively narrow garden, which was developed from 1660, surrounded by a canal, was divided into three parts. Illustrated by Daniel Stopendaal.
