Wheel chart (volvelle), artwork published in Specula Physico-Mathematico-Historica (1696), an encyclopedia of science by the German monk and author Johann Zahn (1641-1707). The text is in Latin. The title (bottom) is 'Chronoscopium Encyclicum'. When constructed as a wheel chart, the concentric circles would be independently rotated to indicate hours, days, and months for specific events. In the four corners are quotes concerning the four seasons, while the quotes at bottom left and right are from the Roman poets Ovid and Gallus.
