The Methodsof Holding theScalpel. — Threepositions arecommonly rec-ommended, each of which is subdivided into two. The positions resemblethe manner of holding respectively, the ordinary table knife, the pen, andthe violin bow. Figs. 34 and 35 represent the subdivisions of the first position; they in-dicate that force and firmness are required.
