A double portraits of two renown mariners. William Dampier (1651-1715) was an English explorer, ex-pirate and navigator who became the first Englishman to explore parts of what is today Australia, and the first person to circumnavigate the world three times. Commodore George Anson (1697-1762) undertook a circumnavigation of the globe during the War of Jenkins' Ear - a conflict between Britain and Spain lasting from 1739 to 1748.
