Trier Karl Marx Statue
A (14-foot) bronze statue of the philosopher Karl Marx who was born in Trier in 1818. The sculpture by Chinese artist Wu Weishan is a gift from China for his 200th anniversary in 2018. It's located on the Simeonstiftplatz, Simeonstift Plaza, and the Margaretengasschen in the center of Trier, within sight of the Marx family house in the Simeonstrasse and looking in the direction of the birth house of Karl Marx in the Brückenstrasse. The city of Trier attracts 150,000 annual Chinese visitors because of it's link with Karl Marx.
