Apothecary. 18th-century satirical artwork showing the remedies, plants and equipment used by an apothecary (the forerunner of a pharmacist). These include numerous flasks, and pouches full of snakes. Several of the plants used are also shown here. This is a copy (approximately 19th century) of the German Engelbascht engraving executed around 1735, held in the Maurice Bouvet (1885-1964) collection of the library of the French College of Pharmacists.
