5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Sept. 30, 2017) Sailors and Marines aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) transport supplies to the ship’s storage spaces during a replenishment-at-sea (RAS) with the Henry J. Kaiser-class underway replenishment oiler USNS Patuxent (T-AO 201). America is the flagship for the America Amphibious Ready Group and, with the embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the 5th Fleet area of operations.
