The man was later released during COVID 19 on 29 July, 2020 in Melbourne, Australia. As sustained high numbers of new Coronavirus cases are being discovered, Metropolitan Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire remain under Stage 3 restrictions with facemasks being made mandatory on 23 July. 295 new cases were found overnight bringing the states total active case numbers to 4,775.
