Spain: Capilla del Angel Custodio (Chapel of the Guardian Angel), Mezquita or the Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba (Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption), Cordoba. Construction of the Great Mosque began in 785–786 and finished a year later in 786–787. In 1236 Córdoba was conquered by King Ferdinand III of Castile as part of the Reconquista. Upon the city's conquest the mosque was converted into a Catholic cathedral dedicated to the Virgin Mary (Santa Maria).
