In the vicinity of the superior border of the scapula, this anterior half enlarges markedly and forms a somewhat triangularly shaped mass. The basal line of the triangular mass thus formed lies along the superior border of the scapula. At its upper end, the gland is covered by the m. steruo-cleido-mastoideus, at its lower end by the m. trapezius, while the middle portion is covered by the fascia of the neck, which, however, is not represented in the fig

In the vicinity of the superior border of the scapula, this anterior half enlarges markedly and forms a somewhat triangularly shaped mass. The basal line of the triangular mass thus formed lies along the superior border of the scapula. At its upper end, the gland is covered by the m. steruo-cleido-mastoideus, at its lower end by the m. trapezius, while the middle portion is covered by the fascia of the neck, which, however, is not represented in the figure (Fig. 2). The lower portion of the gland starts from the basal line of the triangular mass mentioned above, and runs caudad, either passing beneath the scapula or along its vertebral border. Above, this narrow portion of the gland is overlapped by the fibers of insertion of the m. levator scapulae which ends at the upper portion of the vertebral border of the scapula. The rest of the gland is covered either by the m. subscapularis or the m. trapezius. 24*.
