Goddess Yellamma or Renuka is especially popular among Hindus in the state of Karnataka, her main temple located in Saundatti, Karnataka. Yellamma is connected with the cult of the devadasis or 'servants of the goddess' and consequently religious-based prostitution. Female followers of Yellamma are called Jogti and carry Yellamma figures on her head.
