The English settle Dover, and establish a distinct government, but becoming divided in matters of religion, the dispute issettled by Roger Williams with an armed force. 1641. Richard Smith settles in the midst of the Narragansett In-dians, where he remained long in peace. This nation ofIndians consisted of about 30,000.
