He was fitted for collegein part at the Academy in Burlington, Vt., under Prinei|)al Osgood, and in partby Mr. Porter a graduate of Dartmouth College. Prom August 1S28 to April 1830he was tutor in languages in the University of Vermont. He read law with JudgeTurner of St. Albans antl was admitted to the bar of Franklin County, Vt., inMarch 1831. In May 1834 he was ordained deacon, and a year after presbyterin the Protestant Episcopal Church, and oiliciated at St. Albans, 1834-37.
