Capitol area, Washington DC. Satellite image of the Capitol area of Washington DC, USA. This city is the capital of the USA, and this area is where the main government buildings are located. At the centre of the square complex of buildings is the US Capitol, which is where both the Senate and the House of Representatives meet. Above the Capitol is the US Supreme Court (left) and a building of the Library of Congress (right). The US Capitol was built in 1793. Image taken by the Ikonos satellite on 6 April 2004.
