Societies, Etc* The citizens of this city are a gregarious and sociable organize themselves into societies of every sort for social andbenevolent purposes. Masonic, Odd Fellows and a variety of otherworthy and useful organizations abound, and thus the people keepthemselves preserved from the rusting influence of selfishness andasceticism. There are here three lodges of F. & A. M., a ChapterRoyal Arch Masons, a Council Royal and Select Masters, a Command-. KLKS TKMPLE. ery Knights Templar, the Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons, of NorthCarolina, and the Grand Commandery Knights Templar, of NorthCarolina.
