Sample of chrysocolla. Composed of hydrous copper silicate, chrysocolla is found as a stalactitic mass, covered with a blue or green microcrystalline crust. It is found in the oxidation zone of copper deposits, usually in association with malachite. It is an important surface indicator of disseminated copper deposits, and is itself a secondary copper ore. This sample was found in Cornwall.
