The trailer carries the load, about 70per cent of the weight of which is on the rear steel-tired wheels and the tractor pulls the load. The trailershown has a 120-cu. ft. dump body, but any special formof body required by the character of the load can beused. The trailer is quickly coupled and uncoupled andit is common practice to use three trailers with onetractor, one being loaded, one being hauled and one atdestination being unloaded. With the com-bination as shown by the illustration a turn can bemade without backing in a 31-ft. circle and by backingthe train can be turned in a 20-ft. street. The wheelbase of the tractor is only 80 in., and that of the traileris 11 ft. SVo in., Jn addition to its short wheel base thetractor has the feature of an independent spring sup-ported from plant sub-frame. None of the load comes onthe springs of this sub-frame, but on the heavy springsof the main frame. There are two separate sets ofsprings, one set adjusted to the light constant load ofthe power plant, gasoline tank and drivers seat, and asecond set for the tractor frame proper. The tractorhauling unit as illustrated has been tried out for a sea-son on actual contract work and is marketed with fullassurance by the builders of its efficiency. The bui
