Machrie Moor stone circles, Arran, Scotland, UK: three sandstone slabs of Circle II looking NE to the peak of Goat Fell. Part of a complex of Bronze Age ritual sites on the moor around Moss Farm. The circles appear have been sited on the natural amphitheatre of the moor with reference to prominent features on the NE skyline, particularly a prominent notch which is intersected by the midsummer solstice rising sun. Photo taken 7pm 21 June 1995.
