One of Darleys brothers, — of whom two wereportrait painters of considerable local reputation, — married Sullys daughter. The writerwishes to thank Messrs. Houghton, Mifflin & Co. for giving permission to reproduce one ofthe Scarlet Letter outlines, and Messrs. A. C. Armstrong & Son for a similar courtesyin the case of the Margaret drawings.
