While July was a satisfactory month up to last week, it is to be hoped the finish was not a sample of the kind of trade we can expect the remainder of the summer, for apparently business died last week and was buried. Stock of all kinds was plentiful, and some kinds were more than plentiful, especially gladioli and asters. The market has been badly overstocked with both, and the best the wholesalers can do is to sell a few of the best and get rid of the others by way of the back door. Boses are plentiful and some of the stock is quite good. Carnations are holding on, but must go now that we have asters. Beauties, lilies and valley' make up the rest of the supply. Sweet peas will not stand shipping on account of too much wet weather, as we are still averaging almost one rain every twenty-four hours. "Various Notes. C. Warren Kinder has opened a re- tail flower store at Donora, Pa. Mr. Kinder is a son of I. V. Kinder, who has conducted a store at Charleroi, Pa., for several years. The regular monthly meeting of the Oyster Bay Horticultural Society was held in Fireman's hall, Wednesday evening, July 28. The attendance was the largest of the season. James Bell was elected to active membership and William O'Keefe to associate member- ship.
