After seven years as a civilengineer in Allen County, Ohio, he en-tered Kent College of Law, Chicago, fromwhich he was graduated in 191 5. He thenbecame affiliated with the law firm ofJames C. McShane, of Chicago, but gaveup his work to enter the Second OfficersTraining Camp at Fort Sheridan, wherehe w^as assigned to the Twentieth Com-pany. Receiving his commission. Lieu-tenant Veasey sailed for France on Jan-uary 22, 1918, as a casual. After acourse of further instruction overseas,he was assigned to the 168th Infantry,with w^hich regiment he was mortallywounded on July 15, 1918, during theSecond Battle of the Marne, dying thenext day.
