‘Porkman Road’ pig sculpture, part of ‘Pigs Gone Wild’ interactive art trail on the streets of Ipswich, Suffolk summer, 2016

For ten weeks from Monday 27 June until 2 September 2016, the streets of Ipswich, Suffolk, England, UK were taken over by large pig sculptures as part of the ‘Pigs Gone Wild’ interactive art trail organised by Wild in Art. Porkman Road’ is located at Portman Road, the home ground of Ipswich Town Football Club who also sponsored this pig. The artist, Emma Graham, has dressed her pig in a version of the Ipswich Town kit. The accessible children-friendly sculpture trail featured 39 larger-than-life pig sculptures featuring designs by artists from East Anglia and beyond, plus 30 junior sculptures decorated by schools and community groups displayed around the town. In order to get children involved following the trail and to try to see as many of the sculptures as possible, each pig plinth was home to a QR code (quick response code) that enabled points to be collected via a Pigs Gone Wild mobile phone app. The large pig sculptures are to be sold at a charity auction to raise funds for the St Elizabeth Hospice.
