Pholcus ponticus species group Diagnosis. Medium-sized, long-legged Pholcus (body length , leg l:-25-40); distinguished from other species groups in Pholcus by the combination of the following characters: eight eyes, male chelic- erae with proximal and distal apophyses, abdomen long oval to cylindrical, without cuticular pattern, procursus with dorsal spines, appendix simple and without branch, distally characteristically twisted (Figs. 1691, 1693, 1695), sclerotized epigynum with 'knob'. Description. Body length , carapace width Ocular area compact, slightly elevated, AME present. Clypeus and sternum unmodified. Male chelicerae with distal apophyses provided with two modified hairs each and two pairs of proximal apophyses.
