On the bottom edge of theseplates there is a flange for carrying the brickwork I of the furnace, independently of the boshes N,so that if a bosh fails it can be taken out and another introducedwithout pulling down the brickwork. ^^ The inside of the furnace is next built up from the top ofthe boshes with fire-brick, or other refractory material.
