Head of Persephone, 2nd century. Roman, after a Greek original of the 4th century BC. In Greek Mythology Persephone was the daughter of Zeus and Demeter. She was abducted by Hades, the king of the underworld, to be his queen. Her Roman equivalent was Proserpina. Found in the collection of The Hermitage, St Petersburg.
