Scenes of Old Dubai with the abandoned dilapidated ruins of Shindagha village on the Dubai side at the mouth of Dubai Creek as it was in the mid 1980s. The entire area was renovated in the 1990s to form the Dubai Heritage Village that is now a popular tourist destination. The sites significance is that was home of the Ruler's Palace and Offices of Emir Sheikh Juma Al Maktoum and later his son Sheikh Saeed bin Juma Al Maktoum.
The image[s] are of the abandoned village of Shindagha at the mouth of the Dubai Creek as it was around 1985. The site was left to deteriorate until the area was renovated during the 1990s for the first Dubai Trade Festival. The sites significance is that is was home to the Emir of Dubai Sheikh Juma Al Maktoum, and his son Sheikh Sayeed bin Juma Al Maktoum father of Sheikh Rashid who is credited with starting the development of Dubai that was further carried on by his sons into the modern city of Dubai we see today.
