With plenty of sunshine and warm, spring-like weather, the supply at all the wholesale markets exceeded the de- mand and consignments of seasonable cut stock increased daily to the end of last week. The retailers say there was little social work of any kind, but the large demand in funeral work during the week kept them busy and greatly helped to clean up the surplus in this market. It looked as though one of the oldtinie gluts was due, but this was avoided. There were large shipments of excellent roses all the week and Premier, Columbia and Ophelia were the best. Milady, White Killarney and Ward were in full crop and the market afforded plenty for all demands. There were many sweet peas of fine quality coming to the market at greatly reduced prices. These cleaned up almost daily. Spencers of fine quality, with great long stems, were well in bloom. Carnations arrived in large shipments and only the fancy varieties held up in price, even these coming down a few cents. Violets were plentiful, but if the.
