Ten 119 years later, a union of the two churches in the villagebeing effected, after having been used as a house ofworship for fifty three years, the edifice was conveyedto the town of Ashfield and converted into a townhall. In this building the well known SandersonAcademy dinners have been held for many years andon these occasions some of the most noted speakersin the country have been present. Not far from thesite of the old church are the summer homes of thelate George William Curtis and Professor Charles EliotNorton. Mr. Curtis presented the fine vane on thesteeple. 120.
