Geneva, Switzerland, 29 March 2017 - Chile’s President Michelle Bachelet has warned against protectionist trade policies in some countries while addressing a special World Trade Organization (WTO) session. Bachelet shared the platform with the WTO Director General Roberto Azevêdo who said the world should resist the temptation to erect new economic barriers. Earlier the same day she addressed the UN Human Rights Council at a special session in Geneva where she asserted her support for the role of the multilateral system saying building walls will not protect nations.
