Mr. Winter, of the District of Columbia: Mr. Pollett ofNew Jersey, Mr. Tremain, of New York and Mr. McCay of thestate of Washington discussed the motion which was duly secondedand carried, and the secretary, Mr. E. W. Weeks, in accordancewith the instruction of the convention, cast a ballot for , of Chicago, who was declared elected for the ensuing motion, duly seconded and carried, Mr. W. D. Porter, of SiouxFalls, South Dakota, was re-elected Treasurer. On motion theconvention adjourned. ORGANIZING THE JUBILEE CELEBRATION. The Jubilee celebration was held under the auspices of theNational League of Republican Clubs,—the Pennsylvania StateLeague and the alhed Republican Clubs of Philadelphia co-operat-ing. The details were arranged largelyby the Alhed Republican three organizations have hada common origin and are closelyrelated. The National RepubhcanLeague is the outcome of a meetingof representatives of Republican Clubsof the United vStates held in Chicker-ing Hall, New York City, December 15,1887. At the time of its formationthe spirit of James G. Blaine per-meated the ranks of Republicans andthe fighting blood of young Repub-licans was everywhere aroused. Itwas proposed to strengthen the Repub-lican organization by interestingyoung men in politics, especially first voters and constitution adopted by the first Convention thus definedthe purposes of the new organization.
