A, 11th Maine Volunteers, aged nineteen years, was wounded at the engagement at Deep Bottom, near Drurys Bluff, Virginia, on August 16, 1864, by a nmsket ball, which fractured the head of the right tibia. He was admitted to the U. S. General Hospital, at Beverly, New Jersey, on August 22, 1864. On September 12th, the thigh was amputated at the lower third.
