Brian Seizes the Pigskin

In Celtic mythology, Brian was a foolhardy ruffian and one of the sons of Tuirenn (also spelled Tuireann) who killed Cian, the father of the son god Lugh. They then had to complete several tasks that would have been impossible for ordinary beings. One was to seize the pigskin of King Tuis in Greece. To fool the king, they pretended they were poets and then, when they were to be rewarded for their literary excellence, the king brought out the pigsking to measure the correct amount of the prize, which was gold. Brian seized the pigskin, as shown in this 1905 illustration by English artist Bacon After killing the Greeks holding the skin and the king as well, Brian and his brothers headed back to their boat and onto the next task.
