The 16th Century masterpieces on the Doors of the High Altarpiece in Valencia Cathedral
Valencia Cathedral was built between 1252 and 1482 on the site of an earlier mosque. The style of the cathedral ranges from Romanesque to Baroque. The interior is predominantly Gothic and contains numerous religious and artistic treasures. It is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and known as The Assumption of Our Lady of Valencia, and is also known as St Mary's Cathedral. The most celebrated treasure in the Cathedral is a chalice known as the Santo Caliz, which is said to be the famous Holy Grail.
