The porch is open to the sky, and so is thefood-board, a primitive arrangement of onelong plank nailed to two supports, attachedto the veranda railing. But the amount ofinformation which I gleaned, showed me thatany sort of feeding-place is good enough, pro-viding the snow is brushed away from time totime. I put out whole wheat bread crumbs, whitebread, crackers, cracked wheat, bird-foodwhich I bought from my grocer, and sun-flo
