This pretty little species is a close representative of Lionurus condylura, a Japanese species,1 from which it differs in the blacker spot on the first dorsal fin, in the longer outer ventral ray, in the fewer denticulations on the dorsal spine, and in the larger scales (see tables of measurements). Fin-rays—first dorsal, II, 9 (11 to 13) ; pectoral 21 (20 to 22) ; ventrals, 11-14 (13 to 15).
