THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN 1940: WRECKED GERMAN AIRCRAFT AND DAMAGE - Soldiers guarding the burning wreckage of a Heinkel He 111P-2 of 1(F), Werks Nr 1594 brought down at East Coldingham near St Abbs Head, Berwickshire at on 22 February 1940. The aircraft was intercepted by Squadron Leader A D Farquhar in a Spitfire of No 602 Squadron and Pilot Officer G V Proudman in a cannon armed Spitfire of No 65 Squadron. The Heinkel was subsequently destroyed by its crew. The crew of four were all captured, one of them injured
