The Royal Navy Type 45 destroyer HMS Defender (D36) left Portsmouth, UK on 12/8/19 to start a deployment to the Far East, representing Global Britain.


On the 24th August 2019 the Ministry of Defence announced that HMS Defender has been reassigned from her intended deployment to proceed to the Persian Gulf to bolster naval assets protecting merchant shipping in the region.
