Passion flower vine (Passiflora incarnata) showing flowers, flower buds, and fruit. Also called maypop, purple passionflower, true passionflower, wild apricot, and wild passion vine. This species of passion flower is native to the southeastern United States and is one of the few members of an otherwise tropical family (Passifloraceae) to be found in the temperate regions of North America. The unusual structure of this flower requires pollination by a bumble bee or other large bee.
