Chhath Puja is a four-day Hindu festival dedicated to the worship of the Sun God, Surya, and his consorts Usha and Pratyusha.

It is celebrated twice in a year, once in the Kartika month of the Hindu calendar (October-November) and again in the Chaitra month (March-April). The festival is particularly popular in India and Bangladesh. The main rituals of Chhath Puja involve fasting, bathing in holy rivers or ponds, and offering prayers and offerings to the Sun God. Devotees also construct makeshift bamboo structures called chattris on the banks of rivers or ponds, where they offer arghya (offerings) to the rising and setting sun.
